ITS Ireland have introduced a new initiative which seeks to recognise contributions in the industry for Honorary Recognition Awards. It is understood that the success of ITS Ireland has been built on contributions from the greater ITS community at large. This recognition seeks to recognize these members past and present contributions which assisted the development of ITS in Ireland.

A request for nominations is now posted for any members who wish to nominate candidates for recognition. A Nomination form may be requested from and submitted to ITS Ireland at info@itsireland.ie , nominating the relevant candidate for recognition at the Gala Dinner at the ITS Conference 2026.

The ITS Ireland Project evaluation committee of Paschal Griffin, David O Keeffe and Aidan Mahony would like to commend all the students they visited in University College Cork during the project Open Day on the standard of their final year projects and wish them all the best in their future careers. This ITS Ireland annual Bursary is provided to Final year Projects with a focus on mobility in the School of Computer Science and Information Technology in UCC and is provided by ITS Ireland in effort to promote solutions, research and careers in intelligent transport systems in Ireland

Minister Canney signs Statutory Instrument to enable Level 2 Autonomous Vehicles on Irish roads

Seán Canney TD, Minister of State for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports and Leader in Cabinet of the Independent Ministers, has this week signed the Statutory Instrument commencing Section 5(a) of the Road Traffic and Roads Act 2023, paving the way for Level 2 Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) to operate on Irish roads.

🚦Celebrating International Women’s Day with the First ITS4All Subcommittee Meeting! 🚦

ITS Ireland was delighted to mark International Women’s Day with a Women in ITS celebration at the Wayfinding Centre, Dublin, on March 11th. 🎉

ITS Ireland are delighted to announce the formation of its Board for 2025-2026. The following Executive Board Members have taken up their positions: David Laoide-Kemp (Chair),  Ciarán Carey (Vice Chair), Mark Elmore, Dónal Hodgins, Ian Kerr, Rob Curley, Steve Wyer, Gary O’Toole and Aidan Mahony. We would also like to welcome the following non-Exec Board Members: Munja Mutyora, Dermot Woods, Anna Seweryn, Brian McGuire, Kieran McGlynn and Aisling O’Driscoll. We anticipate over the coming weeks to appoint further non-executives to help our task in supporting our members as efficiently and effectively as possible during this term.

Dublin-based John Mason will take responsibility for developing and overseeing the implementation of SRL’s strategy to increase the capabilities and market share of its Ireland subsidiary.

Austrian traffic technology corporation SWARCO AG has acquired 100% of the shares in the Irish family owned business, Elmore Group. The Elmore Group, previously owned by Mark Elmore and Marion Elmore-Kelly, looks back on a multi-decade business partnership with SWARCO, especially in the segment of LED traffic lights and traffic control.
