ITS Ireland recognises the interest from Roads Authority technical staff in the expanding brief of Intelligent Transport systems. ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) includes the application and integration of advanced sensor, computer, electronic and communication technologies to promote safer, more efficient and sustainable systems for the movement of people and goods.
ITS Ireland are delighted to announce the creation of a “Roads Authority ITS User Group” which is open for attendance for any Roads Authority staff member with an involvement or interest in the benefits of ITS.
User Group Remit/Topics
The topics for discussion will include policies/strategies/procurement/maintenance and management of the following:
- Urban Traffic Management and Control
- Communications and power
- On Street ITS Assets
- Information and Management Systems
The User group remit would be to:
- Discuss current experiences and diversify experience
- Share information
- Develop a Network
- Discuss challenges and successes
- Support innovation
- Advise on procurement/contracts and input to standards
- Professionally develop staff
- Aid relevant and informed decision making
ITS Ireland will host free of charge its first Road Authority ITS User Group on Wednesday morning on the 13th November 2019 in the Johnstown Estate, Enfield, Co. Meath
It will be followed by further presentation session in the evening with the ITS Annual Conference available for booking the following day at the same location for which separate booking is required.
Participants may wish to attend the “Introduction to traffic signal course” held at the venue on the 12th November for which separate booking and attendance costs is required.
Please note that attendees must be a member of a Roads Authority with an interest in Intelligent Transport Systems
