Ireland is transitioning to sustainable mobility in line with the key objectives of the National Sustainable Mobility Policy and with international guidelines such as the UN SDGs, the EU Green Deal, etc.

Sustainable mobility can be defined as the provision of services and infrastructure for the mobility of people and goods, advancing economic and social development to benefit today’s and future generations, in a manner that is safe, affordable, accessible, efficient, and resilient, while minimising carbon and other emissions and environmental impact.”

The European Union Council of Ministers of Transport, has defined a sustainable transportation system as one that “allows the basic access and development needs of individuals, companies and society to be met safely and in a manner consistent with human and ecosystem health, and promotes equity within and between successive generations.”

This conference will examine the role of ITS in delivering sustainable mobility solutions and services across areas such as delivering EV charging infrastructure, integrating with other transport modes, incentivising customer travel choices etc. The conference will delve into sustainable mobility challenges and opportunities covering technology, information governance, operations and assuring equity for all users of the transport network.
