ITS Ireland held their 2nd Annual Conference and Exhibition in the Galway Bay Hotel on 7th October.
This event was preceded by a highly successful gala dinner at the same venue on the evening of Thursday 6th October. This event provided all delegates with an opportunity to network and catch-up with colleagues within the ITS industry.
The conference was kindly sponsored by Siemens/Traffic Solutions (Platinum sponsor); Kapsch, Rennicks and Q-Free (Gold sponsors); Arup, IBI and Data Display (Silver sponsors) and Electro Automation, Elmore Group and Clearview Traffic (Bronze sponsors).
The conference included an exhibition featuring various suppliers of ITS products and services. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the opening address was the keynote speech by Jack Short, former Secretary-General of the International Transport Forum. The second session focused on traffic control and management. This session featured speakers from Arup, Trinity College, Dublin City Council and the National Roads Authority. The highlight of the session was a presentation by Team Hermes (from Sligo IT) who provided an overview of their World Student Technology ‘Microsoft Imagine’ Cup award-winning entry.
