On Wednesday 28th March, a breakfast briefing, arranged by Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Ireland, will take place in the Clarence Hotel, Wellington Quay, Dublin 2.
The integration of technology and data will support an intelligent transport infrastructure capable of delivering greater energy efficiency, reduced road congestion, improved road safety and lower carbon emissions. Moreover, advances in transport technology will improve quality of life, sustainability and deliver enhanced economic opportunities. This talk will explore the digital policies and technologies underpinning future mobility components such as connected and automated driving, electrification and alternative fuels, public transport options, and the support of Smart City objectives. The aim of this talk is to provide a clear picture of what is required to deliver the data infrastructure to support the intelligent transport systems of the future.
The presentation will be delivered by Eddy Hartog, Head of Smart Mobility and Living, DG CONNECT, European Commission. A Dutch national, Eddy has a degree in political economics from Erasmus University (Rotterdam) and a post-graduate degree from the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium). He has been working in the European Commission since 1989, first in Trade Policy, then in Maritime Policy and recently in Information Society and Media policy.
Eddy’s talk will cover the following topics:
- Overview of EU Digital mobility policies
- Data management, infrastructure, and privacy
- Role of electrification and alternative fuels
- Future of urban mobility/Role of Smart Cities
- Rethinking the urban environment
